Remember those “reading skills” and “reading tools” lessons in school? Back then, the distinction seemed clear. But in today’s information-saturated world, the lines between skills, tools, and strategies often blur.
Everyone has a toolkit, framework, or strategy they swear by. But are tools and strategies enough? Or is there something deeper, more impactful, that we should be focusing on?
Why Skills Matter More Than Tools
When I started building the PR Starter Pack, I focused on giving founders tools, frameworks, and strategies to amplify their voices without relying on ads or agencies.
But as our community grew from 10 members to 100, to 1,000, and now over 5,000 in our Facebook group, I realized something profound:
Tools come and go. Skills are forever.
Tools and strategies can be bought, copied, shared, or transferred.
Skills, on the other hand, must be built through practice, reflection, and experience.
Skills are irreplaceable assets. They allow us to navigate uncertainty, adapt to change, and take informed action. They elevate our ability to create value and achieve our goals, regardless of market conditions or available resources.
