YOU DON’T NEED TO HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS… JUST SOME.

The easiest way to approach TV interviews less as “an interview” and more like a conversation

is to remember that you don’t have to have all the answers to every question about this topic.

Remember:

You are there to discuss a very limited scope in a topic that can be discussed for hours at end.

You are free to discuss your personal curiosities about industry trends and create the same curiosity for audiences by leaving something to the unknown (things unrelated to specific facts about your company that you should know as an executive).

You can flow from sentence to sentence by sharing anecdotes from your own experience if something the reporter says sparks interest, as long as it is generally related to the topic at hand. This will add color to an interview and make you appear more approachable and less stiff.
